Alfred Zoff

1852 Graz - 1927 Graz

The landscape painter first studied medicin in Graz. At the same time, Alfred Zoff studied with Hermann von Königsbrunn at the "Landeskunstschule". He later studied at the Vienna Academy of Fine Arts and at the Academy in Karlsruhe. His teachers were Eduard von Lichtenfels and Gustav Schoenleber. Before he taught as a professor at the "Landeskunstschule" in Graz, he lived in Munich, Krems and Vienna. Alfred Zoff went on several study trips to Italy and the Netherlands. He was awarded numerous national as well as international prizes, such as the Medaille de Bronce at the world exhibition in Paris (1900) or the Golden State Medal in Graz (1910). From 1983 onwards, Alfred Zoff was a member of the Vienna "Künstlerhaus". In 1900 he joined the Hagenbund.

His paintings of the sea are much sought after.
