Antonietta Brandeis was born in Miskovice in Bohemia in 1848. She started studying painting in Prague and continued her training at the Venice Academy with Grigoletti and Molmenti. Views of the canals and the lagoon in her adopted country became her preferred motif. The artist’s oeuvre mainly comprises small, detailed views of Venice. She often signed her works with the pseudonym Antonio B. Antonietta Brandeis died in Florence in 1926.
