Xenia Hausner

Xenia Hausner was born in Vienna in 1951. Between 1972 and 1976, she studied stage design at the Academy of Fine Arts in Vienna and at the Royal Academy of London. She worked as a stage designer until 1992. In the 90s, she decided to devote her life exclusively to painting. Her pictures mainly deal with examples of interpersonal relationships. The situations are not clear, their protagonists seem to be actors playing a role. The viewer is encouraged to explore the pictures with his own life experiences. Xenia Hausner uses an expressive style and a colourful palette. She continues to develop her large-format photographs in an artistic way and incorporates a wide variety of materials into her paintings.
