„Give Peace a Hand“ is the name given to Sabine Wiedenhofers colourful glass hands or doves by the artist herself. It is the hands we must shake to obtain peace and equal rights for every human being at last. The sculptures are handmade in the renowned Berengo Studio in Murano, Venice. Made from glass, a material equally embodying strength and fragility. Freedom of speech, gender equality, fights for justice are just a few of the many themes of the outstanding documentaries of the “Human Rights Film Festivals”, its winners receiving a sculpture as prize on September 24th 2021 in Berlin. For the artist, these are not mere wishes but demands on our world which is why she immediately agreed to support the “Human Rights Film Festival”: “Every day, we are all eyewitnesses to events we never thought we would have to experience again in this world. It is high time that we transform from eyewitnesses into agents of change. It is in our hands. It is an honour for me to be able to make an artistic contribution to this important festival.”
